When Alan first started getting out into the community with Claudine, two ways that he thought of to interact and engage with the community was through his photography, as well handing out small pieces of ‘bombo’/candy to both kids and adults. While maybe frowned upon or not able to be done in the United States as one walks through a neighborhood, here it is not only accepted but appreciated, especially once trust is established. It became so integral and helpful to his involvement with the people here that at one point he thought of creating a business, or more so a community card called ‘Bombo and Photo.’ 

It didn’t end up being necessary as most everyone knows they can approach him to receive one or the other, or both, on most days, but it has evolved into something a bit more, especially with regard to the photos. In the early part of the summer of 2023, Alan started putting together photos with scripture and scripture related messages to help encourage and comfort people. The 4 x 6 prints of those photos are handed out for free, along with the bombo, and more recently bars of laundry soap and some fruit, at a local kiosk in town where there are at least a hundred people that walk by every day. The photos and fruit are also handed to patients at the local hospital, and the four photos below are now framed on the walls of a local coffee shop.
